How Much Do Dentures Cost?

At the end of the day we can give you some ranges when it comes to dentures costs and your expectations. The variables are endless when we look at how different we all are and our own oral health care status. There will be variations geographically as well with expected higher costs on either coast versus the Midwest. Let’s run through the different ranges.

Full Denture Costs

Your basic, straight forward denture for one arch might start at about $300 to $500, or $600 to $1,000 if you need uppers and lowers. If the dentures are determined to be a medical necessity your insurance might cover 15% to 50% of the costs. All plans are different. Just like any commodity on the street there are some parallels. You can expect lower quality which translates to a shorter life expectancy, something that might not look as natural and having a very limited warranty.

A mid-range denture may range from $500 to $,1500, or $1000 to $3,000 for uppers and lowers. Now you are getting into more attention to the fit and the quality of products being used in the lab to fabricate the dentures. They may also come with a warranty of one to two years.

A premium set of dentures may cost $2,000 to $4,000 per plate. Much more time is spent on the fit and high end materials are used to simulate your actual gums and your natural teeth. The material will carry a warranty of five to ten years against chipping and cracking. This process may also include a number of follow up visits to ensure a comfortable fit and natural chewing, biting, speaking and smiling.

When you add implants or the implant posts to help secure the dentures you may be adding several thousand per post or implant. This is a more time-consuming procedure allowing the post to fuse to the jawbone.

Partial Denture Cost

Removable partial dentures can begin at $300 to $500 and then cascade up from there depending on the number of artificial teeth involved and the design of the metal framework. Once again better materials come at a cost increase. A safe average range for a partial denture is $700 to $1,800 with the high end being $2,000 to $4,000.

Additional Costs per Incident

You may encounter additional costs prior to even being fit for your dentures. There may be tooth extraction necessary ranging from $75 to $650. There may be x-rays necessary to determine the health of your jawbone structure and the impressions make in the dental office to help the dental lab design the final product.

The Benefits of Dentures

The costs associated with your dentures are all relative to not having them at all. By leaving gaps the remaining teeth shift into that space affecting your bite, your speech and your smile. How do you even begin to put a cost and a value on your smile? The smile that drives your self-esteem and your self-confidence. It is all relative.
